“If you want your dreams to come true, then put them from your head to your heart” Robert J. Moore

Heya, welcome to interview with Aditya! Today, we have someone who is exceptionally phenomenal with us, Robert J. Moore is a Therapist, International Speaker and a Life Coach that has impacted the lives of many through the work associated with his International Award Winning Best-Selling book, “From Rock Bottom to Success.” &” The Better Way Formula – Principles for Success” This success story has impacted the lives of over 30,000 (some say it has doubled) people through an emotional tale that has provided insights on how to determine one’s worth, and create a life worthy of joy and success. Robert’s been interviewed by magazines from around the world, national TV programs, radio shows, and has also been invited to speak on world class stages in locations such as Florida, England, and all across Canada. But not so long ago, Robert was totally destitute. Homeless and alone, he had alienated his friends and family with his delinquent behaviours and had nowhere to turn. He thought his journey was over, and his path was at a dead end until a miracle happened…Robert has done what historically very few people have been able to do; come back from a long history of drug and alcohol addiction and a life with no purpose, no education, and no hope. Since 2005, Robert has completed educational programs ranging from Social Service Worker, Addictions Diplomas, and a Bachelor and Masters in Psychology.

Today Robert is living abundantly with proud accomplishments and educational credentials that have left others in similar past situations, utterly inspired and determined to work with him. Roberts latest Transformation Coaching program, “The Better Way”, focuses on helping individuals with creating opportunities for themselves to develop empowering behaviours, and ultimately, shape their lives towards better outcomes. Robert is proof, that there is in fact, a Better Way.

Robert J Moore is being called “The Life Changer” as he changes people’s lives.

Me: “Wonderful! I love your self-confidence! That seems to be unshakeable.

How does your morning Ritual look like? What do the first 60 minutes of your day look like?

Well, I wake up and get in the men’s Christian Prayer line, and then I make sure the children are ready for school & make sure the wife is ok. Then office to my office (in my house) to start my job empowering others e.g talk to students, get ready to speak at an engagement or put some content together.

Depending on one part, I am a registered counselor and Therapist, but I utilize my skills as a life coach. Therefore, if someone wanted to come in as a life coach, make sure you know your passion and what you want to offer e.g I had put all my skills, credentials, and personal experience together and decided I love empowering others to take control of all the obstacles/ emotions that enable to hold them back, so that I can help them identify, and ultimately manifest more happiness throughout their days in their life by identifying and balancing throughout their life.

What do you wish, you had known about your domain or your area of expertise, 20 years ago? And how would it had saved your resources?

I would not change my past as it allowed me to learn what I did to be the successful person I became.

What topic would you speak about if you were asked to give a TED talk on something outside of your main area of expertise?

My Story From Rock Bottom to Success

  • Why educations is essential
  • Principles for Success
  • Awareness of drugs and alcohol
  • How to overcome obstacles to become successful
What obsessions do you explore on the evenings or weekends?

Basically, anything that can enhance me to the next level, or sometimes it’s just family time.

Can you share some experiences of your life that you think have played a significant role in how you’re today?
  1. First I will say is stay humble and do not be afraid to ask for help or guidance from someone that is where you want to be.
  2. I would also give a lot of credit to the communities I have been in touch with as they are the ones that help made me become as successful as I am today.
How did you got rid of all the abusive habits that you had? What was the driving force?

(P.S. There was a time when Robert was broke, ill, embarrassed, and miserable – also technically screwed and chemically addicted – yet he has now transformed his entire life. He is no more addicted to anything that is “abusive”. He is living a rich, wealthy, healthy and fulfilled life filled with grace and abundance. This question is regarding the bad associations that he had at one point of time in his life – and how he got rid of them.)

Getting to know my “WHY”. Otherwise, why do I wake up and get out of bed, why, do I want to empower others so badly, why I want to do the thing I do?  My why is I do not ever want to live the way I was before, hungry, lonely, broke, and living on the streets….Today, I also include my family as my why, e.g. wife and children.

How did you turn your life around? You were homeless, broke, and addicted at one point of time in your life, and today… you are incredibly successful, living a healthy, wealthy and the happiest life one could ever imagine. How?

I was always in and out of the newspapers, or on the news, or being talked about because of my delinquent behaviours, people would notice me for my negative behaviour. This left me in and out of jail for 16 years and living 7 years on the streets.

When I finally got a chance to look at that destructive behaviour and really faced it head-on, despite the fact of all the fear and unidentified emotions I would go through, that’s when I was able to start feeling successful, even though it was in small doses. Now, do not get me wrong, as I really wanted to run and hide, but truthfully who was I really running from, that’s right, from myself. I tried doing the geographical cure, but I brought the problem with me, and that was me.

I started off with very small goals, each day was a struggle to me, as I was unsure how to think, talk, walk in society without my security blanket; the booze. Once I started looking at myself in depth, that’s when I realized I could live without that security blanket. Therefore, my success began in 2005, as that’s when I decided to change my life for the better.

When I went back to school to get my grade 12, oh boy, now this brought up some feelings, like anxiety and fear, but I knew I had to face them, even if it meant sitting in the back of the room, and not trying to participate in any conversation.

I had a year-and-a-half to get my grade 12.

From there on, I ended up winning quite a few more awards, for example; Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Work for Students, Making a Difference from City Hall, Community Volunteer Award, and even being nominated for an Honorary Doctorate from Athabasca University, the Order of Orillia award, Citizen of the Year etc.— _now that was a positive change!

I really liked the learning process. I ended up finally getting my grade 12 diploma, receiving a Harm Reduction certificate, Mental Health Crisis certificate, Social Service Worker diploma, Addictions diploma, Bachelor of Arts and Science, and a Master’s in Counselling both with a Psychology major. While going through for all this education, I was scared a lot, I felt judged, I felt nervous as heck to stand in front of the class and give my presentations. Hence, this is why I did all the pre-requisites in class and doing the rest of my classes online.

When you feel the pain, or the hurt, work through it, as that’s the part you have to learn and identify; in order to reach the success.

  1. God / Jesus Christ
  2. Family
  3. Friends / Community
  4. My Puppy
  5. Job

  • Being sober daily (12.5 years)
  • To have married my best friend
  • To have built up a greet network
  •  My Family and Friends
  • That I have pretty good health

Empower as many people as I can, so they can ultimately have a better life.

I just wrote and published my 4th book “The Better Way Formula – Principles for Success” and I am looking at converting it into an auto-book and a program to empower others.

Either from Rock Bottom to Success, or From streets to University. As for the message I feel I would want people to understand that they do not need to suffer like I have to become successful.

(Or do you have a favorite failure of yours?)

I will not say one particular failure became a success, as I want to state all of my failures lead me to where I am today!  See, when I failed at doing something, I would feel the pain of it, and personally did not like it. Therefore, it was defiantly a learning curve. I am not saying I learn from the first time either, as something’s it would take a few times to get it right.

Is there anything that you believe is true, yet you can’t prove it? (If yes, what?)

Yes, the law of attraction!

No matter how much money I have, I will always remain doing what I am doing to empower others. I am a problem solver for not only my situations, but for others also!  I am also really, really good and crisis. I been called “The Life Changer”

Wow, just to know a few…

  1. Eric Thomas – The Secret to Success
  2. Greg Walker- Dream To Grow Rich: How To Dream, Grind, Hustle Your Way To Success
  3. Jack Canfield – The Success Principles(TM) – 10th Anniversary Edition: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be
  4. Mel Robbins- The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage

Getting educated (spiritually and academically, formally and informally). Getting my children educated and writing my inspired ideas in book form and articles so as to be of benefit to mankind.

How to change the way we feel? What is the best way to get rid of negative emotions and change our state in the fraction of second? I mean, today, people have adopted some unresourceful ways to change the way they feel. Some people, drink too much, some over eat, some take drugs just to change the way they feel. Whenever they feel overwhelmed they either drink, overeat, etc. to get rid of that emotion, and then they feel good for a while and again at the end of the day they feel more unfulfilled and unsatisfied – and so to get rid of it, they again take drugs or alcohol to change the way they feel and this cycle goes on. So, the question here is, what is the most resourceful way to change our state – the way we feel and how can we control and trigger the emotions we desire at our will – anytime?

The E.B.O. formula stands for Emotions, Behaviours and Outcomes; I personally developed the E.B.O formula as I was emotionally numb and could not identify any emotions without feeling overwhelmed. Therefore, my counsellor walked me through each emotion over time and allowed me to feel the pain of each of them! He defined them as a crutch holding me back from my success. Then he showed me the most powerful tool I would never forget in my life, how to identify each emotion and learn how to accept it in a positive way.

When looking at emotions there are two scientific ways of explaining emotions. Emotions are judgments about the extent that the current situation meets your goals. Happiness is the result that your goals are being satisfied, just like when we win the lottery, this helps solve our financial problems and being asked out holds the promise of satisfying your romantic needs. Similarly, sadness is the evaluation that your goals are not being satisfied, and anger is the judgment aimed at whatever is blocking the accomplishment of your goals.

Underneath all the layers of emotions is your true, peaceful self, I want to show you that piece again. Therefore, upon reading this book or taking my coaching program you will learn how to set aside all the negative emotions and replace them with positive emotions.

When looking at behaviour — _it plays an important part as this is how others judge us. The way one acts or conducts oneself, especially toward others is a form of behaviour. Sometimes we get bad news, for example, a family member passes away; 90% of the time we immediately feel sad and a lot of time we feel bad as we wish we could have done something more for them before they died. For example, treated them better, helped them out or even just spent time with them.

Scientists try hard to understand why we behave the way we do, and they are concerned with discovering patterns in our actions and behaviors, so we can build better habits as individuals, create better products as companies, and develop better living spaces as communities.

Obstacles are just things that are there to teach and strengthen each of us for the journey that lies ahead. We must therefore not view them as unapproachable problems that will prevent us from achieving our goals.

I hope you have been taking the time to learn the lessons that life throws your way, because these lessons will be critical to your success as you move forward into the future. The concept of outcomes is highly related to success and is a relatively simple one to grasp, but the power and the value of this way of thinking are often overlooked or misunderstood. Let’s fix that!

A lot of people today are preoccupied with being successful. The feeling the word can make us feel is very different from person to person. For some, it’s being very effective at helping other people, for others, it’s driving a fancy car. Yet more see it as having a very respectable profession, or raising a beautiful family, or being famous, or being extremely rich. Everyone has a different picture of “success”.

Despite the difference, the one common thread is that success is something everyone desires. The path to success, however, often seems obscure, fleeting, and challenging to follow. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if success was simply a to do list you can follow, a formula you can apply, a system you can simply implement?

The Benefits of the E.B.O formula definitely outweigh the negative you have been living with; some of you have lived it for many years, even decades. First off, I am here to teach you ways to overcome these barriers that stop you from the success that you deserve.

What is the best or most worthwhile investment you’ve made? It could be an investment of money, time, energy, or otherwise.

I would say learning who I was, cause without truly finding who I was as all the delinquent behavours I was used to was a challenge… Today, I very excited to say I can help others as I am able to help myself.   ( I cannot give what I do not have)

A little known fact about you?

I know how to motivate others, I also know how to inspire others, but most of all I love Changing others Lifes..   AKA “The Life Changer”

Rapid Fire Questions:

Most favorite movie?

Any movie that has someone going from where they hatted themselves, or felt at their lowest to watching them transform into what they could only imagine.

Fovorite documentaries?

I truthfully don’t have a favourite, as I hardly watch TV, but any documentaries that show someone going through hard times and then allow them to learn how to raise up and become successful is one I would agree with!

Keep trudging, thriving, and pushing through the hard times to reach that goal, do not ever give up NO MATTER WHAT. Always remember the outcome is greater than the pain you feel!

Common Robert, pain is temporally, you can make it through this, just like you have many other things.

 Core beliefs to live by:

I believe in the principles

  • Having a vision
  • Accountability
  • Responsibility
  • Choosing your friends. (otherwise, show me your four top friends and I will show you your future)
  • Knowing your why
  • Persistence
  • Learning to identify and control your emotions
  • Get your priorities right
  • Stay in the present (otherwise, go to events, stay up to par with the new knowledge that can help others, learn what is empower the community
  • Show and give value
  • Integrity
  • Show and living in gratitude
What’s something you believe that other people think is crazy?

Some of the people I know think I am crazy when I say I am going to be one of the top speakers in the world… I see it as an opportunity to work on a dream.

Myself being on stage with 15,000 people there listening to one of my talks! I love empowering other to find the real them!

Any negativity thinking form other or myself.

You have greatness inside of you, don’t waste it; try to find your passion, no matter how hard it is to reach! I latterly had days, weeks months when all I could see was obstacles standing in my way. Therefore, all I could do is break through each one slowly and properly as I do not want them to come back to haunt me. Today I see those obstacles as the hard road to success, and many of times I wanted to call it quits, but I just kept focusing on my “WHY”.

When you’re doing something, always be take responsibility, and show your true creditability.. Don’t just play the role of others see you as, but find it in your heart to show your human and that you do struggle with things!!! That will go further than anything also.

Loved it?
